Supposedly plan to have dinner at Clarke Quay with my colleagues but we had not decided where to have our dinner. I've research the website and there are a few choices ranging from Moroccan, Persian, Australian to Spanish.
Tapas Tree is a Spanish restaurant and it is also the very 1st time I had spanish food. Tapas in Spanish means small dishes. The restaurant wasn't that packed when we were there around 7pm. Judging from the lack of crowd, we kind of hesitated. We ask to look at the menu so we know what kind of food and price we are expecting since none of us had experienced Spanish food. The price is average and will not burn your pocket. The Tapas dishes ranges from $11 - $15. Paella starts from $30+ range.
The service is good compare to somewhat lousy service we had survived at many other places . After our magaritas arrived, the waiter recommend that we order the paella 1st if we have the intention of having paella because it takes about 30 - 45mins to cook. We ordered a seafood paella, portion for 2 pax eventho there are 4 of us. We just want to have a taste of it and we want stomach space for other dishes.
For Tapas we ordered duck cook in orange sauce and pork stew. We also order bread with fresh crushed basil. When the pork stew is served, we decided that we need more bread for the delicious gravy and we ordered another garlic bread basket. The duck is a little tough and it would be better if it had been slice thinner. As for the Paella, it is like Spanish version of our local Mui Fan. The rice cooked cooked and simmered in spices and sauce topped with seafood such as shrimp, prawns, mussels, squids, fish and egg. It is a very satisfying dish and we all love it.
We end the meal with just 1 dessert coz we really do not have much allowance in our tum tum to eat more. We ordered the churros. We are quite disappointed as the churros taste quite bland and there isn't cinnamon or sugar to it. A small dish of chocolate dip is all we have and it isn't enought to satisfy our sweet craving at the end of the meal.
Verdict, I will go back for more and perhaps bring my family along if we want to have a Spanish affair.
